An ovarian cyst is certainly not pleasant and we hope that you never have one. We’re here with all the information you need to help you understand what an ovarian cyst is and how it affects your health and fertility. The good news is that ovarian cysts can be prevented even reversed permanently by addressing the root cause of the problem.
What is an ovarian cyst? How do I know if I have one?
An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that grows on your ovary. In this post, I’ll be discussing the functional ovarian cysts which are different from cysts associated with polycystic ovaries or endometriosis. Functional ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that are the size of almonds that grow on the ovaries related to the monthly hormonal shifts. They can be larger or smaller and can come and go. In a state of health, your body can deal with the ovarian cysts. However, if you are suffering from hormone imbalance this can cause the cyst to grow larger, potentially rupture with a lot of pain and with a lot of complications involved. The diagnosis is made on ultrasonography. The good news is that the cysts are very responsive to natural treatment protocols. I have seen cysts shrink in size and eliminate in clients who followed the truhealing protocol.
What are the symptoms: Many women are not even aware that they have ovarian cysts until unless they start experiencing symptoms. Once you have symptoms like the following your mirror and ultrasound examination to confirm the diagnosis.
The common signs are:
- Lower abdominal pain
- Pressure symptoms on the bladder leading to frequent urination
- Painful sex
- Irregular cycle and anovulatory cycle when ovulation does not occur
A ruptured ovarian cyst can present severe pain and sometimes fever. Most women who experience this will go to the ER and will be checked for appendicitis first.
Types of cysts:
- Cyst associated with polycystic ovaries
- Dermoid cyst
- Functional ovarian cyst
I have addressed the top 3 in separate blogs.
Treatment for ovarian cysts:
Often women are prescribed the birth control pill to fix the ovarian cyst. Unfortunately, the pill does not fix anything. it just replaces your natural hormone change with the synthetic hormone, not to mention the side effects while using the birth control pill .As if it was not bad enough once you stop taking the pill the cysts probably return and get worse as a result. Hence I don’t recommend this as a method for treating cysts. The truth is that the birth control pill can make the root cause of ovarian cyst much worse. It’s just a band-aid solution for women’s health issues. Surgery alone without fixing the root cause of the problem is no good either as the cysts can come back. Natural treatment like the integrative truhealing protocol can not only shrink the cyst but also help to resolve and prevent their return. If you have a tendency of having cysts I highly recommend following my truhealing protocol to fix the root cause of the problem.
What causes ovarian cysts?
At the root of ovarian cysts is hormone imbalance mostly estrogen dominance. The oestrogen in your body is not being metabolized and eliminated properly plus you are exposed to synthetic oestrogen from outside from your cosmetics ,chemicals ,household cleaners, pesticides etc. This creates an oestrogen overload situation. If your body esp liver detoxification is not functioning optimally, it won’t be able to get rid of excess estrogen efficiently and quickly. Truhealing protocol is designed to reverse and prevent estrogen dominance and symptoms associated with it. Then there are some emotional factors also due to which cysts grow, I have outlined them below.
Best tips for the natural treatment of ovarian cysts:
1. Eat the truhealing way and be good to your gut, focus on alkalizing and detoxifying foods like plenty of greens , vegetables and healthy fats from nuts, seeds, coconut, avocado etc
2. Detoxing excess oestrogen is critical to Healthy hormone balance. Support your liver with cruciferous vegetables daily. Increase your amount of broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and dark leafy greens.
3.Make a green smoothie every day.(https://www.truhealing.com/blog/15-21-day-challenge-the-one-thing-you-can-do-to-balance-your-hormone/
4.Eat healthy fats and proteins at each meal. Add probiotic-rich fermented foods like pickled vegetables, sauerkraut etc to support the gut Flora.
5. Manage stress with adrenal boosting foods and supplements, meditation, journaling, self-care etc. Emotional factors are mentioned in detail below.
OVARIAN CYSTS SUCCESS STORY:
How Truhealing worked for Swathi Ravi:
“My cysts vanished and I got my period back!”
This is how Truhealing helped Swathi to get her regular period back, cure her PMS symptoms, and balance her blood sugar, after getting off the pill:
Swathi is 30 years-old and from Bangalore, India. She is a mom to a son and is a homemaker.
Swathi was diagnosed with PCOS and after quitting the pill, her periods went MIA (missing in action). Occasionally functional cysts used to grow. Even though she was surrounded by a supportive family and healthy food, she wasn’t feeling well and happy.
Then she got introduced to Truhealing.
Within three months of following the Truhealing protocol with dedication, Swathi got her period back. Plus she got her blood sugar in balance, which meant no PMS symptoms or cramps for her, massive weight loss and all the energy she needed.
Apart from hormone-imbalance, there are a lot of emotional factors due to which cysts develop.
The emotional cause of ovarian cysts
Do you know that the mind-body connection matters and your emotions, feelings, and energy can play a part in the development of reproductive health conditions?
Your thoughts, feelings and emotions matter and they secrete some powerful neurotransmitters which affect your hormones and body functions. This is not voodoo stuff but pure science. There is a neurological, endocrine, and immunological conversation at work in every one of us that is reflective of our emotional state. While it’s very important to look at the root causes of conditions from a functional integrative holistic standpoint, I find that the emotional aspect needs to be addressed at the same time for permanent recovery. The emotional patterns behind ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, and other conditions are common to many, many women and understanding this aspect is an opportunity to have compassion for ourselves and other women.
Consider your female reproductive organs (uterus, ovaries, vagina) act as a “low heart” that hold many of our unconscious, deeper emotions that your “high heart” is not yet ready to process. The emotions that are held here (in the low heart), are only to be released once the woman has processed the source of these held feelings. A health condition like ovarian cysts can convey a message of the kinds of emotions being held there in the reproductive organs. This theory comes from Jungian psychology, specifically the mind/body connection. To put it in simpler words – every organ has a mind of its own and even in this case, when the reproductive organs are affected by cysts, similar kinds of emotions are conveyed. A student of Jung, Marion Woodman, developed the concept of “feminine psychology” and her work details how unconsciously held emotions, feelings, and thoughts can affect the female body. As science progresses, we are seeing more and more scientific evidence to support this. Dr. Christiane Northrup has discussed the reproductive and mind-body connection in her work. Because after all, don’t they exist as a part of the same big system?
Woodman’s work focuses on how women feel about their bodies. Many of us are brought up to be fearful and distrustful of our bodies, and she believed this has a significant impact on our health. She believed that unconscious trauma experienced by many women – as the result of individually experienced acts of abuse and violence, and as the result of cultural oppression – manifests itself in physical symptoms. Simply put, we are but a sum total of all our beliefs, experiences – both good and bad. Often, the bad experiences manifest themselves even on the physical level as symptoms.
When it comes to ovarian cysts specifically, especially those that are symptomatic and recurrent, they are delivering the message of “unfulfilled creative expression”. Many women experience these feelings – we hold down full-time jobs, do more than our fair share of housework and childcare and fail to prioritize ourselves. Do you ever feel like you really want to start a creative project, but you just don’t have the time and this frustrates you? Energetically speaking, ovarian cysts tend to represent blocked creative desire, ideas that don’t fully blossom in one’s life. This has nothing to do with your personal choices, and everything to do with the position of women in society, and how we are conditioned to organize our lives.
Mind-body connection and OXYTOCIN connection:
I believe the best way to replace these stressful CORTISOL causing emotions is to fill yourself with loving thoughts which release OXYTOCIN. The key takeaway should be to love yourself and develop compassion and the need to find compassion for yourself, your body, and for what other women are going through. Many, many women experience trauma in their lives, whether directly or indirectly, and we all live with a heavy weight of expectation, limitation, and judgement on our shoulders. Many, many women also experience ovarian cysts, as well as other hormonal health issues. I see it all the time that these are connected.
I believe the way forward is to release our emotions in a healthy way and not to hold onto them, may be bring these topics out into the open, to talk about our traumas, those things we don’t normally share openly – like our individual experiences of miscarriage, postpartum depression, abortion, sexual abuse, rape, assault, domestic violence, and our collective understanding of sexism and misogyny. Releasing these emotions can mean we no longer hold them silently within ourselves, where they continue to do harm.
