Beat The COVID-19

Hello everybody! This is Dr. Disha Sridhar from Truhealing and I want to talk to about coronavirus, and discuss what it is, where it comes from, what are the symptoms and what you can do to protect yourself from it and accelerate your own immune system’s ability to fight it off or heal from it if you already have it. It Is the type of virus that actually comes from animals. Generally the virus can happen in humans or in animals but the virus can cross over species like SARS and Swine flu virus.

Dr Disha Sridhar

I am a Gynaecologist Obstetrician ( MD, DNB OBGYN )with an emphasis on INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE.

THE CAUSE

The reason this happens is usually because of factory farming. A lot of animals are kept in small confined spaces where they get sick and contaminate the workers and other people who are exposed to those products. So we know that this came from the animal industry in China but what can we do about it?

SYMPTOMS OF CORONAVIRUS

The  symptoms are similar to cold and flu like running nose, sneezing, coughing, and fever. If you have such symptoms, you may be having a normal flu or corona virus. Either way you want to stay home and don’t want to infect other people out there in the public. In severe cases there can be difficulty in breathing. This is the only time you would want to step outside of your house if you have such severe symptoms to seek medical care.

WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?

In terms of treatment we don’t really have one yet and we also do not have a vaccine or an antiviral medicine that is specific to the coronavirus. What we can really do is to treat the symptoms. If you have severe breathing issues you might have to go to the hospital in order to support your own breathing. So how do you protect yourself?

Priority number 1 is to protect yourself and if you already have the symptoms, you protect others. If you have symptoms you should stay at home. But if you’re going to the doctor or need to be in contact with people, you would want to wear a face mask. If you are not sick, you do not need this face mask. Those are only for the people who are sick to prevent them from further contamination.  Now if you are coughing and sneezing for any reason make sure that you  cough into a tissue and then throw that into a lined trash can right away and then wash your hands for  at least 20 seconds either with soap or a hand sanitizer. If you don’t have any tissues around, then you would want to use your elbow.

PROTECT YOURSELF

The best way to protect yourself is to keep your hands clean. Avoid touching your face as the virus is said to live on surfaces and we tend to touch objects and things very often which can easily be transferred to our eyes, nose and mouth. So by keeping your hands clean and by avoiding touching your face, you can help yourself stay healthy and protected. Every time you come from public places, make sure to wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or keep a hand sanitizer with you and make sure people coming into your house wash their hands which is very important.

One of the most important things you can do to protect yourself is to strengthen your immune system. Make sure that you stay clean, wash your hands but also make sure that your immune system is functioning properly. The best way to keep your immune system optimally functioning is by feeding yourself the right nutrition and  I am known for the same…supporting people’s immune systems and reversing diseases like autoimmunity, hormonal imbalance, polycystic ovaries, thyroid diseases, period problems, fertility issues etc., which can be done by supporting the immune system, using nutrition, lifestyle hacks and natural supplements.

TIPS TO KEEP YOURSELF PROTECTED

1. Hydration

Water is essential for the immune system to properly function. Increase your water intake to help flush the system and also to keep your immune system working well. Make sure to eat leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables which can fill your body with the highest levels of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to fight the infection and to keep you strong and healthy.

2. Green smoothies

The Omega 3 fats from Chia seeds and Flax seeds are some of the essential fats required for a good immune system and the best way to obtain that together is by consuming green smoothies. I have free green smoothies recipes laid down for you on my Instagram and a blog on green smoothies which you may want to check. Drink a green smoothie everyday and you will have a lot of hydration and will have your nutrients from your Omega 3. You just put a straw and enjoy the drink. Do it for your kids, for your family and for yourself.

3. Avoid inflammation

You also want to avoid things that can cause inflammation like processed foods, excess dairy, meats etc. All this information is laid down in my free blogs on how to heal naturally from chronic diseases especially women’s hormone imbalances.

The reason I am so passionate about it is that after having struggled with PCOS, thyroid and premature menopause for a significant part of my life, I not only overcame them and have been healthy for over a decade, by changing my diet, lifestyle and learning the right ways to cleanse. All I can ever obsess about is helping the public learn how to nurse themselves properly to heal their bodies and to avoid getting sick so that everybody can feel as good as I feel. So please share these tips with others in the community because everyone deserves to be healthy and if you want more information, check www.truhealing.com.

Do you know that our hormones and our immunity are interlinked? So today I am going to give you some comfort but also to encourage you to take care of your hormones because as women, balanced hormones is what gives us an immune boost. Some science fun facts: Oestrogen is an immunomodulator hormone. Raised cortisol and insulin have immunosuppressive effects. Biohacking these hormones with Truhealing protocol helps in optimal immune support.  According to the Truhealing modified elimination diet and protocols, the following supplements can help to support the immune system.

1. B5 supports adrenal glands

2. Magnesium balances insulin, reduces excess cortisol and regulates stress response.

3. Omega 3 for stress busters and anti inflammatory action

4. D3 regulates insulin improves immunity and boosts mood.

5. Probiotics balance the gut, flora balance oestrogen and hence boost the immune system.

6. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and immune booster.

FIGHT THE ISOLATION

Being socially isolated with the new virus spreading rapidly can bring on feelings of depression and anxiety. My best advice to you is to create a routine that is sustainable. Wake up when you normally would, shower, get dressed and fill your time with mood boosting activities. Don’t forget to get some sunlight exposure for Vitamin D3 and plan your routine according to your situation. We are at home now and we should be cooking with an intention to nourish our bodies and immune system. Use low glycemic foods, herbs, and spices to boost immunity.

We can take this time to slow down, exercise, take deep breaths, get enough rest and sleep, especially the two hours before midnight which boosts melatonin hormone( also called as beauty sleep),have a restorative bath, enjoy a book, do something you always wanted to do and enjoy  reading and writing. In this time of social distancing,  connecting virtually and staying in touch with your loved ones can help increase your Oxytocin,  which is the most immune boosting hormone ever.
